We have read that the sons of Issachar (in 1 Chronicles 12:32) “had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do”
In light of the extraordinary challenges of the time in which we are living, I have been asking God constantly for His direction about what I should do – personally. Several inputs confirmed what He made very clear immediately.
One is God’s word in 1 John 3:8 “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
Guiding Principles
There’s a principle that constantly challenges me with every discovery. As new insights, facts and truths come from following Jesus, the logical outcome should be to naturally lead others to discover them for themselves.
“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.” – Ezekiel 33:6
“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” – 2 Timothy 2:2
Another principle worth repeating is what I discovered long ago meditating on John 8:31-32.
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
See this! Truth is of no impact if it is not acted upon. Opinions are of no consequence if they are not informed by truth.
Here’s the truth. If American Christian citizens do not take the leadership to inform their fellow citizens of the inevitable results of the outcome of the coming election, they will be held accountable by their Master for their complicity for any harmful results of their inaction. Think about that!
James 4:17 “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”
Be Careful What You Listen To
Christians today are inevitably thinking about all sorts of uniquely disturbing current events. To various degrees, we all need to be informed with truthful facts that determine our own personal outcomes or the outcomes to which we have a responsibility to be a direct or indirect influence. We cannot trust the MSM. We must do our research and find other reputably honest reporters who do their homework and have values based on honest self-sacrifice and truth, not political expediency and proven deception.
You can name all sorts of issues from wearing masks, destructive mob insurrection in the nation’s cities, Biblical guidance on civic obedience, health practices and signs of the end times… but let’s focus on the one issue that all of us are going to have to live with the rest of our lives…
What are you going to do on November 3, 2020?
First – your decision to take action – Since we have a duty to exercise our constitutional responsibility to vote (and be the ‘sovereign’ – ‘we the people’ – who reign over this land), doing nothing is not an option. Estimates of non-registered voters among Christian adults in America are as high as 40-50%. That is reprehensible. Are we the land of the free and the home of the brave… or the land of the socialist slaves and the home of the disconnected apathetic? With as many as 70% or more of of so-called Christian churches so fearful of losing people that they won’t stand up to bureaucratic tyrants to keep their churches open for worship services and ministering to the needs of the community, the 2020 RNC put them all to shame. The Republican National Convention openly rebuked abortion in more detail from Abby Johnson than the public has ever heard on prime time. Why aren’t all Christian churches doing that kind of thing regularly? Our president even clearly recited the recap of the miraculous changed life and salvation of a man who received an unexpected pardon. That ex-convict has been developing a rehab ministry for years, helping other former inmates discover Christ’s salvation.
2nd – your decision to support ideals and principles that reflect your honest values as a follower of Jesus Christ and His Word. That means giving your time and treasure to influence and disciple the community and culture you live in.

Our communities need the redemption and wisdom of Our Creator/Savior, Jesus Christ, as much now as we ever did. The contrast between choices of good and evil are clearer than ever before. The secular culture surrounding us became that way, not because of the power of darkness to overcome the light, but because of the bushels of Christians who have hidden their light. Will we stand up and stand out to make a difference and let our light shine? It starts with prayer and submission to Almighty God who has every right to judge His own creation. But He also mercifully guides His plan for the nations and our assignments in that plan. That’s why we must do what He puts in our hands to do so we can peacefully live for Him and influence our communities with the gospel of His Kingdom. “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.” He has given His disciples the keys to the kingdom of heaven because all power was given to Jesus in heaven and in earth.” That’s why Jesus told us to “go therefore and disciple all nations.” It appears to me that we’ve still got a job to do and he has not told us to let up on that assignment until every enemy has been put under His footstool. That’s what should always give us hope to press on no matter how dark and difficult the challenge might be. May God raise up a generation of warriors who know how to trust God to help them conquer the Canaanite giants around us, even if we are surrounded by an evil and adulterous generation, just like 2,000 years ago when Jesus came the first time. And may He find us doing His will in His victory when He comes.
