Have you sometimes wondered how you could engage someone in a conversation that could help them personally think about their relationship with their Creator?
Since 1975, (50 years) I’ve taught many seminars on the Biblical theme of my book, Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation. It began as a Bible college course I created for the Canadian Bible College that I attended. That’s where I met the woman, prepared by the Lord to be my life-partner.
Since 2010, I’ve hosted a weekly Radio show and podcast broadcast in Sacramento, CA called RECLAIMING YOUR LEGACY. You can hear and read all the content for past episodes at ReclaimYourLegacy.com.
Several psalms in the Bible encourage God’s people to look to God’s creation as a catalyst to bringing our praises to our Creator. Psalm 148:7-13 is one of those passages.
7 Praise the LORD from the earth, You great sea creatures and all the depths;
8 Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
9 Mountains and all hills; Fruitful trees and all cedars;
10 Beasts and all cattle; Creeping things and flying fowl;
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples; Princes and all judges of the earth;
12 Both young men and maidens; Old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the LORD, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.
Psalm 148:7-13
I discovered a Bible verse that makes a perfect introduction we could use with anyone…
“Come and see the works of God Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men.” Psalm 66:5
Indeed – how truly we can say with the Psalmist in the 3rd verse of that Psalm…
“How AWESOME are your works O God… You have made them all!”
Wouldn’t you say those are really fitting uses of the word “Awesome?”
In Psalm 143, the psalmist gives his testimony that all of us can reflect on.
“I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.” Psa 143:5
Think about that statement. Can you see the three ways there that you can use your mind to think about three types of things?
First, we can REMEMBER … the days of old… the events of the past that we can hear or read about that God did..
Then, we can MEDITATE on all His works. As we mentally revisit the events of what God has done in the past, we can use our thinking skills to meditate on two types of things. The events of the past themselves, naturally include specific actions described in His word… like the creation, the Flood and all kinds of incidents that left physical evidences caused by those events. That opens up a whole lot of what we could call “empirical evidence.” Not only would that take us on a path to archeological evidences of things we can find buried in the ground like walls that were built long ago at specific places that have been identified by names recorded in the Bible… It also would include things like fossils of all sorts of creatures that were buried by the catastrophic actions of the global Flood of Noah’s time.
Third, we can MUSE on the work of the Creator’s hands. Can you see the adventure God is inviting us to participate in with that statement? And, by the way, when I think about the word “muse” I’m reminded of how that word is pretty familiar to us… You know it… It’s the word “Amusement.” Of course, there… the letter “A” in front of “muse” means “NOT” to muse… And the word “muse” means “to THINK.” So “A-muse” means you don’t need to think… On the other hand, we’re familiar with the word “museum” … And that, of course, is a place where you’re supposed to be encouraged to think. Unfortunately, in today’s world, museums that are filled with all sorts of amazing and wonderful things to think about, are typically places where you’re also force-fed a lot of very cleverly and artfully constructed deceptions to direct your thinking in ways that prove to be absolutely ridiculous… like all the make-believe magic of evolutionary naturalism.
But Scripture keeps insisting profound truths… like Psalm 104:24…
“O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.”
You could probably see that “manifold” is sort of like the word “multitude.” God’s works include so many things, it’s impossible for us to even imagine numbering them. And the wisdom it took to make all those TREASURES in the whole earth, just fills us with a sense of AWE. No wonder Psalm 9 declares…
“I will praise thee O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works.” Psalm 9:1
And Psalm 145 declares…
“All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.” Psalm 145:10
Indeed, God ordains that all His Awesome works of creation bring praise to their Creator… but…

For many, the Bible is like an ancient locked up book … It’s filled with golden treasures of infinite wisdom and direction that could change their lives if they’d just open it and unlock the mysteries of the life that are binding them in darkness.
The darkness of Darwinian evolution is probably the most destructive speculation that has been destroying the lives of untold millions of children. They’ve been constantly fed a steady diet of lies, disguised as scientific facts. And the system of education they are subjected to has been completely under the control of those who reject the undeniable truth of God’s Word… beginning with the very first verse.
IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH. GENESIS1:1
This declaration from our Creator opens His holy and awe-inspiring Scripture to set the stage for the basis of all truth. But what is heard by most of the students and their parent’s homes, blaring from all the media, textbooks and the temples of knowledge we know as ‘museums?’ …
They’ve all become megaphones for the IDOLATRY called secularism.

They’ve deliberately ostracized Creator from their make-believe world and slandered The Son of God openly with their shame-filled debauchery and utter contempt for Truth.
This is why the Bible letter from the Apostle Paul to the believers in the city of Corinth tells us…
“We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised against the knowledge of God and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Cor 10:5
Does this sound like warfare? Will there be opposition? Will you feel challenged? Will you see the opportunity to advance Messiah’s kingdom? The big question is… Will you make a commitment to your LORD… depending on His strength to see you through to victory?
Honestly, I have to ask you… Are we giving our priority to the kind of warfare that passage seems to imply? Can you think of some lofty (high-minded) speculations and things that are raised against the knowledge of God? How would you like some help to be more successful in the battle that you’re engaged in to destroy them?
I trust, as you’re listening to me today, that you’re consciously making an effort to do what you can to “increase in the knowledge of God” as several of Paul’s letters exhort readers to do.
If you think about “The knowledge of God” … let me ask you… when do we find the knowledge of God?
Prov 2:5 tells us…
“Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.”
… So, when is that? If you check out Proverbs Chapter 2 – it spells it out pretty clearly…
”My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and [then] find the knowledge of God.” Proverbs 2:1-5
When does that process of understanding and finding the personal knowledge of God actually begin to happen? Well, make careful note of the very specific guidance God’s Wisdom is providing to guide our pathway.
- receive my words, … obviously you have to be receptive… open minded
- treasure my commands … do you suppose this takes a personal investment of time and money?
- incline your ear to wisdom, …We’re constantly listening to something… it’s our choice.
- apply your heart to understanding; …thoughtfulness is a matter of the heart, isn’t it?
- cry out for discernment, …Do you think He’s inviting us to plead with God physically?
- lift up your voice for understanding, …It’s no sin to use your voice to ask God for insight!
- seek her as silver, … this really gets down to our priorities doesn’t it?
- search for her as for hidden treasures;
- then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and [then] find the knowledge of God.”
When I began doing those things in earnest, God put me on a journey that eventually led to do what I never would have planned to do. He enabled me to publish my book, UTMOC.
It took over a dozen years … learning many life lessons along the way…
One of the big lessons is perhaps best described by a passage from Psalm 25 that starts with a prayer…
4 Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O LORD.
8 Good and upright is the LORD; therefore, He teaches sinners in the way.
9 The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth, to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.
11 For Your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
12 Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.
13 He himself shall dwell in prosperity, and his descendants shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.
Psalm 25
You want guidance? The knowledge of His ways? Be TEACHABLE! That’s what humility is all about. That’s why He says “the humble one HE GUIDES.” … “The humble one, He teaches His way.”
In the opening spread for Section One of my book, Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation, I set the stage by quoting the 11th verse of Exodus 20. That’s the chapter containing the Words that Moses and all the congregation of Israel, heard with their ears, at Mount Sinai, when God declared the 10 Commandments. It’s one of the most unique verses in the Bible about Creation for its absolute insistence on a very profound truth.
“For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them and rested the seventh day…”
This challenged me to learn well the facts that confirm the credibility of Scripture regarding the verbal account of creation in Genesis. And yes, when you dig for the facts… when you analyze the data… when you compare all the Scriptures… it makes complete sense. God really did create the entire universe in six normal days, and He did it less than 10,000 years ago. Don’t believe me. Just don’t fail to “test all things” and see for yourself why the creation could not have happened by any kind of evolutionistic miracles. The evidence is shockingly hidden from our lofty information sources that deny the knowledge of God. Many of the puzzling pieces on when it all began are put together in that first section of my book, Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation. And you can watch the full presentations I recorded on this topic, at this link: https://www.youtube.com/@dennis.petersen

I also found the Bible is filled with Hidden Treasures to Discover.
One of those treasures, that continues to compel my ongoing study of the Creator’s Word and His World, is from the oldest book in the Bible… over 4,000 years ago… Job told his friends:
But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you;
And the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you;
And the fish of the sea will explain to you.
Who, among all these, does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this,
In Whose hand is the life of every living thing,
And the breath of all mankind?
Job 12:7-10
When I discovered that Job’s story included that statement (Job 12:7, 9 & 10)… I knew it had to have a page in my book. It would introduce a whole section devoted to “EXPLORING THE DESIGN AND PERFECTION OF THE CREATION.”
When he said “who doesn’t know?”
… do you think he is trying to make it clear that an open-minded discovery of nature should naturally lead anyone to recognize that there is a LORD of creation responsible for all the intricate design thathe sees all around him?
“Ask the beasts, and they will teach you;”
What I’m giving you today is a gift. It’s really a key. And it’s designed by your Creator to unlock mysteries of God’s Awesome Creation. Part of that is to know where to find this extraordinarily helpful insight from God’s Word. Job chapter 12
Job chapter 12 has to do with the Number One Evidence from the “Things that are made…”
Paul’s first chapter of his epistle to the first Generation of Messiah-confessing believers in Rome, declares…
“… his (God’s) invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So, they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20
Everything you’re seeing out in nature on a warm spring day – flowers, grass, butterflies – All of it is giving you clear perception of …
DESIGN … And when you see the intricate and purposeful designs in nature … what does that tell you?

It tells you There IS a Supreme DESIGNER who designed it all! A very intelligent Designer at that!
And That’s the number one attribute of our Creator’s divine nature – The Designer is the Author of Creativity.
And when you look at all the beauty and variety of what He created, do you get the feeling He had a lot of fun doing it?
Our Creator continues showing humanity why people can have so much pleasure by using their intelligence to echo His creativity.
… think about it…
Endless designs in His world of nature inspire us to reflect our Creator’s genius by enabling us to be creative.
“Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and merciful.” Psalm 111:2-4
Who has marveled – watching fireflies on a hot summer night? Fireflies really are Fantastic. If you want to see some remarkably fascinating video footage of the Creator’s awesome work of his Fireflies, you’ll want to check it out at the link that’s in today’s transcript on ReclaimYourLegacy.com. It’s from John 10 10 ministries. https://youtu.be/3hheo6FLbcM .

The amazing ability of living creatures to produce light is called “bio-luminescence.” The light from a firefly is sometimes called “cold light” because the energy conversion process is so efficient that no measurable heat is formed. The engineering design required to make a firefly is clearly the result of intelligence beyond imagining.
“Who doesn’t know that the hand of the LORD has done this?”
Instruction lasts for a short time… Discovery lasts for a lifetime! Think about that.

God’s Genesis account of His creation in 6 days describes an orderly sequence of miracles that defies the doctrines of Darwinian evolution.
**Here’s an Important thing to Notice – In case you’re challenged to try merging naturalistic evolution with divine creation, it makes no sense! The Bible narrative is straightforward, without apology… declaring truths that are impossible to force into any concept of evolutionism. Just look at the panorama of the six days of creation in Genesis…
- Plants appeared on day 3 before the sun on day 4
- Earth was created on day 1 before all stars on day 4
- Daylight on day 1 appeared before the sun was made on day 4
- Water engulfed the earth from the beginning before dry land appeared on day 3
- Birds and whales were made on day 5 before four footed beasts were made on day 6
- Fruit trees filled the earth on day 3 before jellyfish and all the other amazing creatures in the sea on day 5
And thinking of all the amazing varieties of creatures God created to live in the sea…
Have you ever seen one of them that has an incredible sense of creative design itself?

You might ask who made this exquisite design in the sandy floor on the bottom of the sea? It’s an exquisite, perfectly symmetrical sand sculpture in the shape of a radiating wheel that looks like an image of a sunburst. Like other animals every year, the male pufferfish has a special ritual to attract its mate. Only his is a week-long, non-stop project that he instinctively works on 24/7 until he completes his masterpiece. And it looks absolutely magnificent. You’ve got to see this. Using his underbelly pectoral fin to stir up the sand into very specific shapes, and his mouth to move little shells around until they’re placed just right, the Pufferfish meticulously and persistently creates his work of art before the ocean’s currents wipe it all away, but not before he attracts his female to continue the existence of their ‘kind.’
Let my chemist friend, Bruce Malone, show us one of the most incredible ‘works’ of God to bring glory to His intelligent design. Bruce calls it: “A fish in love!” … and he describes it as “How the Japanese Puffer Fish circles show the romantic side of this ocean creature.” You can find it on Bruce’s YouTube channel called “Search For Truth.”

Have you ever watched a monarch butterfly emerge from its chrysalis? It’s no doubt one of the most spectacular marvels of creation I’ve ever witnessed…
I really hope you take some time to discover some more about their Creator’s intricate design invested in these uncommon expressions of God’s Awesome Works… don’t miss seeing…
THE SUPER GENERATION from The John 10:10 Project It’s all about Monarch butterflies, especially about their astounding migration to their sub-tropical home breeding grounds in the forests of central Mexico.
I never realized that the late summer generation of Monarchs in Canada and the US was so unique. Did you know that through springtime and summer, all the Monarchs in North America only live for 2 to 6 weeks? The late August generation is genetically programmed to live up to 9 months! That’s because all the millions of Monarchs emerging from their chrysalis then are about to make a thousand-mile-plus journey to several remote Mexican forests where they will spend their winter before their offspring venture off to their northern habitats for the summer months. Their survival hinges not only on their massive compound eyes, but also on their awesome, finely-tuned navigational systems that are built into their tiny brains and antennae.
Learning of the awesome designs of the Monarch’s migratory marvel, and watching the miracle of metamorphosis can truly be a very memorable catalyst to exploring God’s Awesome Works. Aren’t you thankful that we can bring glory to Him by sharing the wonder of it all with a child who has hardly ever heard of God’s creative genius?
Again, doesn’t it make sense that instruction that lasts a short time can prompt… Discovery that lasts a lifetime?
“One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts”
Psalm 145:4
I’ve asked many times, when is our generation going to take that Scripture seriously? When will we speak up as all of the Scriptures I’ve talked about today have encouraged us to simply praise God by talking with our family about His Awesome Works?
Another Scripture passage that has really been my prayer in these last 20+ years that I’ve had the heavenly privilege of being a grandfather… is Psalm 71. Part of it says…
“O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful works you do. Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me. Psalm 71:17-18

I’d like to think that sharing these things that you’ve heard me talk about today is at least like a seed that’s planted with the hope that you’ll take and water it until it produces a fruitful harvest.
Which HIDDEN Treasure in the Bible did you discover today?
- Psalm 66:5 “Come and see the works of God Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men.”
- … followed by one of my favorites: “How AWESOME are your works O God… You have made them all!”
- Job 12:7-10 “But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you;…Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this, In whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?”
- Psalm 143:5 “I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.”
- 2 Cor 10:5 ““we are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised against the knowledge of God and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”
- Romans 1:20 “his (God’s) invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, are clearly seen, … by the things that are made…”
Which of the Creations of the Supreme DESIGNER will you declare to someone this week? Will it be…
- God’s Amazing Deep Sea Artist – the Japanese Puffer Fish?
- God’s Brilliant Flying Flashing Nightlights – the Firefly?
- God’s Miracle of Metamorphosis – the Monarch Butterfly?
It would be good to go slowly… and remember what the great scientist ahead of his time, Galileo, discovered…
“We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.” Galileo Galilei
Instruction that lasts for a short time can prompt Discovery that lasts for a lifetime!
“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.” Psalm 77:11-12
