Time to Prepare for coming Storms

This is Time to Prepare for coming Storms – every leader Needs to be a vocal watchman (vigilant sentry).

Like Esther, you fathers, elders, deacons, ministers, and bishops… must respond to the compelling message of Mordecai in the Bible book of Esther. And almost nobody has yet told us what that ‘compelling message’ is.

Various kinds of unbelievably insane eras like ours today, have happened many times before on this earth.  We’re not the first.  But in previous generations of mankind, the craziness was typically more localized in a certain region or empire – like crazy Caesar Nero’s Rome near the end of Christ’s Ekklesia’s first generation, or Bloody Mary’s medieval England at the dawn of the Reformation, or the murderous regime of Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.  Today, it seems to be the whole planet Earth is under an evil spell of wicked forces in high places. It’s been that way all along of course, only now, lots more people are realizing that the evil is a direct war against the Creator and His set-apart people, Christ’s Ekklesia, the kingdom of God’s blood-redeemed family.

When corrupted societies surrounded God’s people, remember that chaos, hardships, and fearful troubles were brought on by the evil morality, the policies, and the actions of God’s enemies.  And remember that those enemies were not allowed to last forever.  Those wicked people and regimes were removed because The Most High God is on the His Sovereign throne… and the foundation pillars of His throne are “righteousness and justice” (Psalm 97:2).

God is the everlasting Judge of all His creation. He puts down one and exalts another (Psalm 75:7). And we must not forget one of the most central declarations of God’s sovereignty over the nations, repeated three times in one chapter, “That the Most High [God] rules over the kingdom of mankind and He bestows it on whomever He desires and sets over it the humblest and lowliest of men.” (Daniel 4: 17, 25, & 32).

God’s voice spoke through Esther’s surrogate father, uncle Mordecai.  He answered Esther with a command saying, “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

Foresight and Preparation before danger

Twice in the Bible book of Solomon’s Proverbs, we’re told that a prudent, or sensible, person sees when danger is coming and takes cover, hiding himself for protection; but the simple-minded and the inexperienced person keeps going blindly on and suffers the consequences of his thoughtless choice. (Proverbs 27:12 and Proverbs 22:3 AMP & NLT).

I’ve been wanting to share with our listeners for a long time some Bible insights on the topic of ‘preparation’ in the face of what looks like imminent widespread disruption of our modern social order.  There are many good reasons why the Bible’s many commands to study God’s word are so neglected today.  And I’m not talking about the neglect from worldly people who are stuck in their natural, carnal thinking. When God says “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6) and “My people are taken into exile as captives for their lack of knowledge” (Isaiah 5:13)… He is talking about dangers that could be prevented if His people had been attentive to all His ways.  And just how is that possible?  Three things…

  1. Love God enough to study His word and teach His words to your children (Deuteronomy 6:5-7).
  2. Abide in Jesus closely enough to be set free by the knowledge of His ways (John 8:31-32).
  3. Do the good required by YHWH: do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8).

Regardless of the reasonable excuses that all of us can make for why we don’t study God’s life-giving word and spend time meditating on the wisdom we can learn from all His counsel, we all have the capacity to determine our priorities.  I suggest that now is the time to adjust all of our priorities… before changing circumstances change those priorities for us.  God’s promises to us for doing that are always going to result in His peace and His blessings (Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 6:33).

We could make a long list of fearful ‘signs of the times’ that are provoking God’s people to seek His face more diligently than ever.  The list would include all the usual fears of imminent natural disasters like massively destructive tsunamis caused by undersea earthquakes. It would no doubt include everybody’s anxiety about the violence of expanding wars and the breakdown of supply lines.  And don’t forget about the fears created by the technocratic elites… more pestilence, famines, plagues, and the collapse of the economy.

Another thing we must not forget is the fact that God warns his people when to take action.  Nearly a whole generation of 40 years before the end of the age of Temple sacrifices in AD 70, Jesus gave his disciples clear warning when to get out of town (Matthew 24:16).  By the time Roman general Titus invaded Jerusalem, the disciples of Jesus had already emigrated away from Judea, way ahead of that. They even began selling their houses shortly after Pentecost years before.  That’s because they anticipated what they remembered Jesus foretold… remember it?  Matthew 24:15 was pretty specific wasn’t it?  Jesus said, “When you see…” speaking about the desolation of everything Jewish in the land of their time. Over a million Jews in Jerusalem were slaughtered or starved to death by Roman soldiers.

In our day, the reporting of main-line News media companies is corrupted by reportedly 70% of their advertising from mega corporations in the big pharma, big chemical, and big food industries.  However, the rise of quality citizen journalism is increasing awareness of many things being censored by the far left. We find them on alternative platforms like Frankspeech, Rumble, Brighteon, Bitchute, and X, instead of YouTube and Facebook, that favor left-leaning censorship controls.  Now, we can watch and listen to hundreds of truth channels that champion American freedom and traditional Biblical values. Tucker Carlson’s excellent reporting is one of the best examples of this. Most people who esteem righteousness and truth in America are discovering far better options.  They’re abandoning the old daily TV news shows that all read the same narratives produced by thoroughly corrupted news agencies. As that’s happening, the internet is changing the landscape of public opinion. People are waking up to the realties that have been hidden by the globalist agenda of the God-hating secularists that have hijacked all the mainstream information influencers of the last generation.

By now, most people who are aware of the globalist agenda – as espoused by the utterly wicked influences of the WEF – the World Economic Forum – have repeatedly heard the prediction that they expect a global “cyber attack.”  And that would bring all public internet communication to a screeching halt for a period of time… it could be days, weeks, or who knows how long?  The well-known failure of the computer system named “CrowdStrike,” on which Microsoft systems depend, forced the cancellation of thousands of airline flights around the world in July of 2024.  Estimates reaching a billion dollars in business losses occurred in one day because computers were “down” and people couldn’t do business with some hotel chains and other companies.  Do you suppose this could have been a “test?”

Those who know about the so-called “dark web” have reported that the recent CrowdStrike system failure was known about before it happened.  Since then, they are reportedly discussing a major cyber-attack that’s expected to happen sometime before the November elections.  This kind of discussion obviously is seen by the main stream as highly speculative.  But, if we’re honest, almost nobody has absolute trust that political powers both within and outside of our government are capable of preventing widespread shutdowns of the power grid and the internet. Many Americans have no confidence that the powers that be are not deliberately conspiring with major corporate globalists to assure our country bows to a one world government.  That’s why many rightfully worry that a shutdown in America would precipitate marshal law and the suspension of the general election to prevent any possibility of President Trump being elected.

Add to all this the known existence of hundreds of terrorist cells and thousands of dangerous illegal immigrants that are poised to stage a series of destabilizing, violent attacks inside America.

What questions should believers be openly asking their leaders in the Churches of America?  Do the Bible-loving Christians of America really believe God wants them to be unprepared to defend their families and congregations if and when local social unrest puts them in the crosshairs of those who hate them?

We’ve all tended to look at most of scripture as it applies to each of us personally, haven’t we?  Isn’t it about time that we consider the applications of scriptural wisdom as it applies to us as we relate to our community of local believers?

When God’s Word says “A prudent man sees evil coming and hides himself, but the naïve proceed and pay the penalty” (Proverbs 27:12), don’t you think we should consider how we respond to that in concert with our own local church? … or at least with the group of like-minded Christ-followers that we can trust to be our fellow “watchmen” for each other’s safety in times of crisis?

Protecting our Community

Does our church, as well as our family, have a contingency plan to gather emergency teams to help one another in our neighborhoods?  Have the experienced men of our assemblies gotten together regularly, like the patriots of New England in the 1770s, to hammer out action plans for when there are threats of crisis?

What happens if the widespread power outages last more than a week or two?  Are we, as a community, prepared with plans to deal with the challenges that condition produces?  Do our senior citizens have confidence that their faith community will help them …when they’ve never even been instructed to know how to prepare with emergency essentials like back-up supplies of food, water, and fuel or shelter it it’s needed?

Are we aware of the single mothers with small children in our neighborhood who might be facing extreme hardship in a society-wide crisis? What if such a tragic event happened in the next 30 days?  What have we individually done to work with others to prepare for that?

Once we see that we’re all far short of being prepared for these kinds of crisis, what are we going to do about it?  This is no time for excuses or delusional thinking that the fire department will rescue us when everything around us is in utter chaos.

With exhaustive insight in the Hebrew Scriptures for the foundation, even the New Testament passages show us God’s order for humanitarian care.  Paul tells us in Galatians:

“So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith” (Galatians 6:10).

Every local family of believers should assess the situations of those who might not have family members to help in times of emergency. Wouldn’t you agree?  But that also means that the people that make up church bodies must be close enough to one another in fellowship to be truly and mutually accountable to each other.

We often quote 2 Chronicles 7:14 expecting God to “heal our land” if we humble ourselves and pray.  But do we even recognize that the divine invitation in that passage is aimed at “My people” … that means the community of God’s people together.  Together they should be humbling themselves in prayer.  Together they should be turning from their wicked ways… Together, we can help each other to confess our sins appropriately within the body. Together, we can join hands and hearts in turning from our wicked ways.  Those are things God expects us to do together as a community of believers just like the first century church.  Yet …most of our churches today …are filled with people who know next to nothing about one another’s personal stories of redemption.  All too many of us have never even learned how to confess our sins to one another, and pray for one another so that we may be healed as the apostle James instructs us plainly (James 5:16).

But all that changes when we discover that through Jesus, our Father has designed to no longer live inside a temple of stone.

“You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”  1 Peter 2:5

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16

Now, let’s not miss God’s application of His word to each one of us through the words Mordecai spoke to his adopted daughter, whose Hebrew name was Hadasa.  His famous phrase is “who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.”  We all need to realize that God has placed each one of us in our own generation for His purpose. If we believe the Bible, we bear witness in our spirits that our Creator has sovereignly guided our life to this present moment with purpose.

By AD 66, when Vespasian was selected to be the next Roman emperor, many Christian Jews had already fled persecutions in Jerusalem.  Eusebius wrote that when the revolt began, in A.D. 66, most of the remaining believers in Jerusalem made their exodus to Pella, across the Jordan River, in neighboring Jordan, before Titus began his siege of the city.  After A.D. 70, Christians were not permitted in the synagogues. The fall of Jerusalem, then, made the Christians even more distinct from the Jews and impelled the church to develop among Gentiles populations.

Now is the time that all of us as, Messiah’s called out “sons and daughters of God,” need to get together with like-minded friends in our faith.  And we need to be deliberate about our purpose, in light of this present dark season we’re in.  Like the “sons of Issachar… who understood the times” we all need to ask God for His Spirit to fill us with the knowledge of what “Israel” – meaning God’s family – ought to do. 1 Chronicles 12:32.

There are plenty of resources available online from experts in the field of preparation and survival. But the most important action to be done is … take the first step.  And what’s that?   Pray with your faithful group for God’s direction, and then counsel together to develop a workable battle plan. Several Proverbs come to mind…

Pro 20:18

Plans are established by counsel;
By wise counsel wage war.

Pro 15:22

Without counselplans go awry,
But in the multitude of counselors they are established.

Pro 19:21

There are many plans in a man’s heart,
Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.

Situational Awareness

Assessing your situation and listing possible tactical strategies are the beginning of any survival plan. Asking lots of questions lead to discovering the resolutions that need to be implemented.  Only those who are in an imminently dangerous situation need to ‘flee to the hills.’  For most of us, we’ll need several secondary contingency plans. That way we’ll have already thought of what to do if a certain situation presents itself.

  • What do you do if your water supply service is disrupted?
  • Who do you contact if emergency medical help is needed?
  • Where do you go if your immediate shelter is inadequate?
  • How do you obtain supplies if all the stores are empty?

These are the kinds of questions that most of us don’t give much thought to… But when we collaborate with one another to develop a plan and then determine to be accountable to one another to see to it that our plans are acted upon… that’s when we can be confident that God’s peace will prevail. It’s because we’ve been obedient to prepare in advance to follow the principles of God as expressed in places like Ephesians, where we’re told:

“Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is…” Ephesians 5:15-17

Remember Mordecai’s words

He said: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).

No true leaders in Christ’s genuine Ekklesia church can afford to remain completely silent at this time, thinking they won’t suffer for their cowardly lack of courage. People under their influence need direction and discernment. They need to know how to see their situation with pro-active strategic knowledge about what to do… Whatever causes reluctance to speak out, leaders must stand up for what’s right. If they don’t, they will suffer loss… and according to Revelation 21:8, cowards are joined by the liars and sorcerers, and all who put their idols above obedience to the Most High God.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

If you are a young lamb in the flock of a local congregation… if you are a wandering sheep without clear guidance from those whom you think are tasked with the leadership to admonish you for your good… if you hear that there’s a menacing lion prowling around your community of uninformed but mistakenly hopeful fellow sheep… what are you to do when you know your shepherd is being silent in the face of a coming storm?

Prophets of God’s First Covenant (the Old Testament) speak out

Hearing the words of Jeremiah and Ezekiel can be very convicting to some people today.  Do you suppose that has something to do with why it’s rare to find Christians who ever heard God’s thoughts toward His leaders (shepherds) who fail to do the responsibilities they’ve been assigned to do?

“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” says the LORD. Jer 23:1

Ezekiel 34:2-10 has a sobering message for shepherds who don’t warn and protect the sheep in their charge.

“Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? 3 You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. 4 The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. 5 So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.

7 ‘Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD: 8 “As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food for every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock”— 9 therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the LORD! 10 Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them.”

Every Christian has serious reasons to ask …

‘Am I safe under the preaching and leadership that I’m listening to right now?’

‘Am I, in any way, being deceived or led into a shipwreck because of the teaching I’m receiving right now?’

‘Am I being lulled to some kind of apathetic sleep so that I’m not alert to dangers that could destroy any aspect of my life and my family’s life because of the silence of those I look to for leadership?’

We could easily see that from Joseph in Genesis to John the Revelator… the underlying theme of the whole Bible is PREPARATION. So, for this season in the epoch of God’s Kingdom family, we can all pray in faith with Paul… asking…

“… that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.  Colossians 1:9-12

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Psalm 46:1-3

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.  Psalm 46:10-11

Bonus Segment

Now is a good time for all of us to meditate on that passage I just read from Psalm 46.  “We will not fear, EVEN” if the mountains shake and be swallowed by the sea.

The problem with a lot of people, both Christians and pagans alike, is that they are inclined to be ruled by fear. Of all people, believers in the risen Messiah, must constantly keep in mind that fear is a spiritual ‘thing.’ It’s a ‘spirit.’

Scripture says that God has not given us a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). Now… listen closely to the next few minutes of what I discovered in the Bible.

Now, let me share with you an insight from God’s Word that can blossom into a whole new dimension of your journey of walking with Jesus.  Let’s get to …

The Root of the problem

Rather than take the time and trouble to be informed, to overcome the ignorance that is leading lots of God’s people to destruction in various ways, their human tendency to fear what they can’t control naturally leads them to various forms of denial or cognitive dissonance.  They either look away from the negative realities of the world that they don’t like, or they allow their minds to disconnect. It’s almost like they go into a kind of mental trance. Claiming they can’t do anything about their future, they rationalize to themselves that, in their own self-interest, they should go along with the governing authorities in their lives, rather than rock the boat. I’m talking about their jobs, their clubs, their governments, … even their religious organizations.  All of those seemingly well-meaning entities can… and will… let us down.

Who do you serve?

Paul made a pointed statement in Romans 6:16, saying:

“Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey?”

That’s why Scripture proclaims “my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).” “My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge (Isaiah 5:3). With all the doctrines and dogmas that God’s people receive from their popular media prophets, religious priests, and political ‘kings’, how many Christians today in your community are diligently following the model of the believers of the town of Berea (Acts 17:10-11).  They were commended because they “searched the Scriptures to see if these things be true.” Was what they were hearing from the Apostle Paul truly based on God’s Word?  They dared to actually “test all things (1 Thessalonians 5:21).”

Have you ever read about or seen filmed reports of people whose villages or entire nations have been devastated by war or natural disasters? … the senseless wars in Asia and the Middle East? … earthquakes in Tibet or Haiti? … tsunamis in Japan or Indonesia?  There are several ways for us to think about all these tragic events and process them in our minds.  Besides the political causes, or the physical causes, we could evaluate the spiritual causes for God’s prophetic judgement.  It really all comes down to idolatry. That’s what brings about catastrophic collapse of whole societies.  When we consider the prophetic Biblical imperative that “every thing that CAN be shaken, WILL be shaken” (Hebrews 12:27), it’s heartbreaking to think about the inevitable eventual destruction of generations of people groups who follow the vanity of idolatrous, demonically motivated leaders all over the world.

But there’s also a redeeming side of this uncomfortable conversation for those with spiritual ears to receive it.

I’ve occasionally mentioned the fact that when survivors of a natural disaster like a hurricane or super tornado …emerge from the rubble to see that their neighborhoods, businesses and churches have been demolished all around them… there is one thing that still stands.  It’s the remnant of God’s people who make up His assembly of believers – the truly born again, saints of the kingdom of the Most High God.  Apostle Peter speaks prophetically when he wrote:

“But you are A CHOSEN GENERATION, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR GOD’S OWN POSSESSION… called out of darkness into His marvelous light; you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.” 1 Peter 2:9-10.

The Bible would have us see that God has always seen fit to preserve a remnant of humans on this Earth to be His family of Ambassadors as lights in a dark place.  They’re gifted by God to bring sacrificial – agape – love .. and hope to a love-less and hopeless generation.  When all the grand architecture, crafted by human hands, is destroyed along with all the beautiful decorations, God’s presence is still here. Why?  Because He lives in His believing family.

Jesus made it clear that His New Covenant would be ratified by the promise of His Holy Spirit coming upon His disciples at Pentecost (Acts 1:8 and Ephesians 1:13). The Jerusalem Temple, and the Tabernacle of Moses before it, was made indescribably holy by one fact.  God’s presence resided there. But Jesus (John 14:17) promised that God’s “Spirit of truth” which was WITH His disciples while Jesus was physically with them… was going to be IN them.  This is one of the greatest revelations of the New Covenant.  Who could possibly have even imagined such a thing in the lost world of the Old Covenant.

While Jesus walked among His disciples – during the last few days before the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom, when Jesus gave up His Spirit in death… He declared, “See these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down” (Mark 13:2).  In God’s redemptive plan for mankind, there was no more need for the stone Temple.  God’s Spirit abandoned it when Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father to ever make intercession for His people – His Holy Spirit filled, set apart children.

Think of this most awesome transference of the presence of God when Jesus said to them, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained” (John 20:21-23).

Amazingly, Jesus was amplifying the power of what it meant for Adam’s and Eve’s sin-defiled children to repent and be transformed.  He declared they were now invested by the divine Son of Almighty God with the essential element that breathed life into our first human father.

Psalm 34 strengthens our resolve to keep our eyes on Jesus, no matter what fearful storms assail our journey…

‘I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; the humble shall hear it and rejoice. O magnify the lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.’ (Ps 34:1-3).

And while you’re in the neighborhood, swing by Psalm 57 where we join David when he fled from Saul in the cave saying…

‘Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge in Thee; and in the shadow of Thy wings, I will take refuge, until destruction passes by.  I will cry to God Most High, to God who accomplishes all things for me. He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. [Selah] God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth (faithfulness). Psalm 57:1-3.

And don’t miss one of the greatest promises for God’s people during times of divine judgment on the wicked of a generation… Isaiah 26

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusts in Thee” … (Isa 26:6) … and finally …

Isa 26:20-21

Come, my people, enter your chambers and shut your doors behind you; Hide for a little while until the [LORD’S] wrath is past. Listen carefully, the LORD is about to come out of His [heavenly] place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their wickedness [their sin, their injustice, their wrongdoing]; the earth will reveal the [innocent] blood shed upon her and will no longer cover her slain.
