Paul wrote in 2nd Corinthians 2:11 about being taken advantage of by Satan, saying that “we are not ignorant of his schemes.” Today we’ll unpack a treasure of insight of how our enemy has used his number one tool to devastate human lives down through history, and how he’s doing it now.

Historian William Federer is a friend I’ve appreciated for many years. He’s written many books and has a very busy ministry unwrapping the often-hidden details of history and how God has sovereignly guided the affairs of humanity since the beginning of creation. Nothing escapes His notice.  The words of Paul at Mars Hill in Athens in Acts 17 remind us that God “Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things.” And then he dares to declare that the Creator “made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth” … and get this… “having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation!” 

As a young museum curator in the 70s, with a master’s in history, I was stunned by the discovery of this verse.  Imagine!  God is literally the providential orchestra conductor of the migrations and timings of the human race… even to the boundaries of their habitation.

I’ve been privileged to have Bill Federer as my guest for several discussions on Reclaiming Your Legacy. His insights are always like an exhilarating adventure into the past.  I’ve been wanting to have him back to give us all some needed background on how our society has arrived at the crisis we’re now all facing. And though he can’t be with us today in person, I’m excited that we can share with you some of the presentations he recently gave to the congregation of Chino Hills Calvary Chapel with Pastor Jack Hibbs. Here are the High points of part one…

Greek Philosopher, Plato, the ancient proponent of socialism, described the mysterious catastrophically annihilated civilization of Atlantis as a ‘structured society.’ Plato considered democracy to be an ‘Unstructured society.’ 

Because ‘democracy’ is “people-ruled,” its main characteristic is ‘tolerance.’ That’s wonderful until they start tolerating those who are a little ‘off.’  Then they tolerate people who are a lot ‘off,’ and finally they tolerate lawlessness.

Then comes the tyrant, appearing as the protector with absolute authority to destroy anyone who opposes him.

Plato said “democracy is doomed to fail because it’s based on people having virtue. But if people have to choose between giving up their life or giving up their virtue, they will give up their virtue to save their life.

In Socialism the ruling class is above the law and politically connected. They are supported by the ‘commoners’ – the ‘ruled class’ – who own nothing, have their survival provisions, but have no families. Government decides who has children, remove children from parents, and “socialize” them in schools, conditioning them to obey and serve the ruling class.

Plato explains a tyrant instituting a “structured society,” when a true philosopher king is born to set in “order their own city… and take possession of the children, who will be unaffected by the habits of their parents, training them in their own habits and laws.”

In Plato’s “Republic” children are taught “noble lies.” He said, “We want one single, grand lie which will be believed by everybody.”

Democracies require everyone to be present to decide society’s path, so they could only be as big as a city. A republic can get bigger, but the people still have charge over elected representatives. How does a tyrant take away authority from the people? 1. Fear – trade Freedom for security, and 2. Free Stuff – trade Freedom for dependency.

Fear – “the fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him.” Proverbs 10:24

Free Stuff – “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed.” James 1:15.

Like hunting, you catch animals using a gun (threats and fear), or bait.

Since humans naturally give way to fear, some politicians plan to use fear to control people.

Psalm 133:1 “How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”

Proverbs 6:16 “the Lord hates… he that soweth discord.”

The Devil sowed discord in heaven (Revelation 12).

Gideon’s wicked illegitimate son, Abimelech, sowed discord to end the Hebrew Republic to usurp power and make himself king, using identity/race politics.

In 1498 Machiavelli in Italy, wrote in his book The Prince that the ends justify the means.  All the warring city-states in Italy could be conquered by a devious prince by creating the need for protection and filling it with tyrant rule.  Create or capitalize on crises to consolidate control is the essence of Machiavellianism. “You don’t want a crisis to go to waste.”

Crises are necessary. If none currently exist, you manufacture them.

We see a crisis and respond to help people through it.

They see a crisis and respond by usurping power through it.

Reagan wrote: “One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism is medicine… it is eas to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project…  Of you don’t stop this… behind it will come other federal programs that will invade every area of freedom… until one day we will awake and find we have socialism.”

Britain’s expansion over all India used similar Machiavellian strategies.

Britain also did this in America in the French and Indian war and the War of 1812.

Washington wrote: “Disorders and miseries gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual who turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty… Let there be no change through usurpation. Usurpation though in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. The precedent (of usurpation) must always greatly overbalance in permanent evil any partial or transient benefit which the use can at any time yield.”

Hegel’s dialectics influenced Darwin and Marx. Germany didn’t exist then. It was a spread of small regional kingdoms inclined to war with each other. Hegel’s solution for peace was to improve on Machiavelli’s method. Marx was a follower at the university of Berlin. The theory is structured with three parts repeated: Thesis > Antithesis > Synthesis.  Create discord in the status quo to create a real bad problem; then pose a solution that is half as bad; then repeat, ultimately creating totalitarianism. The objective is always to stir mass public fear to ultimately remove their individual freedoms.

Karl Marx used the strategy of using agitators, organizers and agent provocateurs to stir up people with grievances until they riot, causing wide public fear. Then restore order with police powers to give government increasing tyranny over the people. He called it “critical theory.” Study the country and see the groups. Then label one group victims and others oppressors. The ‘have’s’ vs the ‘have nots.’  Then organize protests and riots to divide them (like: proletariat vs bourgeoisie; poor vs rich; blacks vs whites; Catholics vs protestants; Muslims vs Christians; Hutu’s vs Tutsi’s (Congo).
